What is HOT in the Bedroom.

I was asked? So I will tell. What is Hot and trendy in the Bedroom?
Thick, romantic, luxurious, rumpled beds with mismatched vintage finds in neutrals, grays and soft floral pastels that are soothing to the mind, body and spirit.

Relaxing is the trend.

Rooms you just want to pull the covers over your head and stay in bed allllll daaaayyyyy.
In our hectic world we need soothing reminders to help us unwind and decompress after long productive days. The trend leans more to a relaxed environment without the stiffness of by gone years.

Gone are the days of Mom and Pop bedrooms with matching nightstands, commodes and dressers.

Here to stay are vintage recycled high quality furniture that can be painted and distressed. The more coats of paint on a piece the more appealing it is.

Any dings, scratches or chips are just added bonus and character to the Vintage Shabby chic trend.

Some pieces are in such great condition they can be left in its natural state. Good quality pieces can be passed down from generation to generation.

With the disposable environment we live in today it is very enlightening to see the trend in home decor pick up on all things vintage.

Vintage doors, fireplace mantles anything goes for headboards which can be easily modified to attach to metal bed frames or secured to the wall. Gauzy drapery can be hung over the bed if a headboard is not appealing to the individual. It is an easy and inexpensive solution.

Canopy beds are dreamy and romantic as always. Below the drapery is attached to the ceiling using curtain rods.

As individuals tastes vary, the common thread is an eclectic style with mismatched pieces and a calm soothing approach.

Many manufacturers are catching on to the trend and are reproducing vintage looking objects and furniture.
A reproduction or an original neoclassical twist?

Some are using vintage pieces and incorporating them into their designs. This wall sconce from Restoration Hardware is made from vintage wrought iron railings.

Vintage suitcases stacked up by the bed are great for storing infrequently used objects.

Thrifting has become a favorite pastime for many.

On a budget this is the trendiest way to decorate your home. It requires a little bit of ingenuity and pizazz.  Notice the nightstands in all the photos, no two are alike. Anything goes.

What is NOT hot in Bedrooms.
The bedroom set.....Although, this may be acceptable to some it is definitely not my favorite.  It can be worked into a stylish bedroom if need be but it is not my first choice.

We do want our sleeping environment to be calm and soothing.  It is important to take the time to design an environment we feel comfortable to relax our mind, soul and body after a long hard day of work.
I cannot leave you with this last unpleasant photo lingering on you mind. One more for the road as they say. or maybe two or three.

 one more....(isn't this one sexy)

one more?(this one is cozy like a big comfy sweater grandma knitted for you)

last one. (took my fence down for this one)

Had to add the princess fairy dreamland bedroom. (took the Christmas lights down for this one)

I hope you are inspired to create a calming and relaxing environment to lay your head to rest at night.
Let me know which bedroom inspired you the most?

My words of inspiration for the day.

The imagination exercises a powerful influence over every act of sense, thought, reason, -- over every idea.

  12. I am so very glad the trend has been moving away from "matching sets" of furniture, in every room of the home, for some time now. It is so much more interesting - and personality reflecting - to use unmatched pieces. Your choices of bedrooms are exquisite, Caroline!

Thanks for linking to the party.
