Shabby Chic amour complete

A little while back I had showed you a beautiful shabby chic vintage dresser (view here) I was working on? Well I finally finished the piece and I am extremely satisfied with the outcome. A lovely piece in bad need of some Shabby Chic Amour. Here are the results.

This Piece is available for sale: $ 595.00 cdn

The Morning I brought it to the store it was a beautiful sunny spring day. We off loaded it from the truck straight on to the sidewalk in front of the entrance.

We added a few accessories and it was quite the attraction for the day.

Not something we would move in and out often. It is quite heavy with the mirror. We received many complements for the day on the piece and on the stores apperance. It is pleasant at times to hear positive feedback on all our efforts. The weather has been quite cold this spring and we are working hard to capture the feel of spring inside the store. Quite difficult on rainy dreary days.

At the end of the day we had to move the dresser inside. Here are a few shots from the interior.

A few close-ups for you to scrutinize.

We hung a vintage looking scarf  from the drawers.
Plastic knobs were replaced with glass knobs.

The edges were sanded down with a hand held sander.

The inside of the drawers had some pretty interesting mactac paper. Not very pretty, something you would pick up at the local grocery store. When I removed it, it left a sticky surface.

I resolved this issue by layering pages from a badly damaged vintage book and sealing it with a sealant. Time consuming but worth it.  It adds a  little element of surprise.

Lovely details surrounding the mirror.

The Mirror is in great condition. Just enough patina to give it a nice vintage look but not enough to obstruct your view or reflection.

Details from the front of the dresser

A few more details. This is something I enjoy immensely. I love seeing how the whole piece comes together.

Such great detailing to work with.

This is one of my first large pieces of furniture I refinished for resale.  I enjoyed every minute I worked on it.  My Shabby Chic Amour. Hopefully with many more pieces to come.

On another note:
I am in love with the fragrance Gin & Rosewater from a line called Tokyomilk.

It has a light fresh citrus scent for the summer.

I burn the candle on my desk while I write my blogs. Its very soothing.

  10. That is a beautiful chest of drawers. I'm a sucker for distressed furniture with so much detail. With shabby chic and French styles being so popular now, I'm sure it will only be a short time before this piece has a new home! Thanks so much for visiting my blog yesterday!
