Color of the year 2011 revealed

The inspiration for the colour of the year for 2011 is "Appreciation". It is a light, airy, citrus yellow that symbolizes a freer spirit, sense of fun and positive energy. An almost neutral colour that can be used in a very modern environment or on the other end of the scale in a very vintage or French country setting. I love it. It is a very soft yellow almost like a lemon sherbet, a very happy and sun shiny color. The Colour Futures team describes the colour of the year as" Fresh, reassuring, sugared lemon, surprising, creative and fun, healthy, hopeful, glowing and warm".

Yellow in color psychology terms is always associated with warmth and sunshine. Light and airy yellows are recognized as being refreshing, cheering and uplifting. They are good at promoting communication and learning, helping to combat fatigue and depression and feelings of wellbeing and positive thought. They are also believed to enhance a mood of relaxation which in turn helps to minimize anxiety and stress.

The RED palette for 2011; Soft Strawberry reds that can be combined with cooler grays and deep warm neutrals.

Warm Neutrals...a great companion with reds.

The key colour (B2.39.41 90RR 18/450) is a juicy pink toned red, very warm feminine and romantic. A very soft and a slightly cooler toned red which is very delicious and cozy.
